Frozen Application To close a frozen application on your iPhone 3G, press and hold the Home button for at least 6 seconds.
Once the application is closed, restart your iPhone 3G. To turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off your iPhone 3G. To turn your iPhone 3G on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Power Off / Reset
To reset your iPhone 3G, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red “power off” slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Next we’ll reset your iPhone 3G to factory settings.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Please note: This will reset all settings but no data or media will be deleted. (If you are using WIFI, you will have to re-enter your SSID – WEP/WPA key settings)
If that does not resolve your issue, try erasing all content and settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings. Please note: This will delete all media and data. All settings will be reset as well.
**Please backup your phone to Itunes before proceeding with this step. After the process completes (in about 2hours), you will have connect your iphone back to Itunes to perform the initialization process.**
